Tooting Bec Gardens, Streatham
Tooting Bec Gardens is a small residential home in the community for seven service users with learning disabilities. The house is only a few minutes' walk from Streatham High Road and is close to all community based activities and many shopping centres. Facilities such as health centres, opticians and dentists as well as leisure options such as the swimming pool, cinema and open parklands are all within easy walking distance.
Streatham has excellent transport links to the south coast and central London.
The staff team is well trained, dedicated and highly motivated to ensure the highest possible quality of life is provided to all service users.
We endeavor to create an open, friendly and welcoming environment and each service user is encouraged to be as independent as possible.
Each service user chooses their daily activities and many regularly attend college. Individual development is promoted and some service users are supported to train for, and achieve employment in the wider community. Service users are encouraged to take an active part in the running of the home e.g. selection of staff, choosing décor, shopping, cooking etc.
The accommodation comprises of seven single bedrooms over three floors, all of which are above average proportions and each are furnished to a high standard to reflect user's styles and preferences.
Aims and Objectives:
- To provide a warm and friendly environment in which all service users are given every opportunity to enhance their quality of life and their independence skills.
- Our aim is to provide a service that is tailored to meeting the needs of each individual. We aim to provide care and support to enable each service user to fully participate in, making informed choices in all aspects of their daily lives.
- Promote a "Personal Centred Approach" to service provision. Individual service users are encouraged to maximise their involvement and have control over their life.
- To monitor and evaluate the changing needs of each individual and adopt a flexible approach to their care and support. To ensure that each individual's physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met.
- To ensure that all aspects of service user's health and personal care are dealt with appropriately and sensitively, liaising with external health professionals where appropriate.
- To support service users with individual Health Action plans and ensure that these are regularly reviewed by health care professionals.
