Woodlands, St. Joseph's, Freshfield
Set in the Formby Pinewoods, Woodlands is a 12 bedded purpose built home for adults with complex physical needs and Learning Disabilities. We have 12 single rooms 11 with ensuite facilities. All the bedrooms are decorated to a high standard and always to the service users personal tastes, overhead hoists are available in 7 of our bedrooms.
Woodlands has two separate lounges, one is used for relaxation with bubble tubes, relaxing music and mood lighting and one which is a TV lounge, We have a large dining room which contains an area for listening to music or watching TV/DVDs Karaoke, playing games or exercising with the Wii. Woodlands have a sensory room for use at all times of the day or night. We have two adapted bathrooms and a walk in shower room accessible for wheelchairs.
All meals are prepared by the Support Staff using all fresh produce. We occasionally have themed nights when we enjoy foods from around the world we also have a Qualified Chef providing Al a Carte dining once a week.
Our aim is to provide a supportive, stimulating and homely environment to our service users, encouraging each person to develop and achieve a level of independence and choice in order to maximise their quality of life.
Our services go beyond merely housing people, and supporting them to in hygiene, nutrition and safety. We believe that our environment is a positive and happy place for the Service User to live and spend time in. Each person is encouraged to take an active role in their own lives and is supported to exercise the same human rights as any other member of society.
We aim to ensure that social, emotional, religious and cultural values are actively responded to. Each Service User has their own person centred plan which enables the staff to work with each individual and plan how they want to live their life and reach their own personal potential.
Woodlands welcomes and actively seeks the involvement of Social Services, Health and other agencies to enable Service Users to reach their own level of competence and to live as full a life as possible in the community and within their own environment.
