The life of Frances Taylor

old drawing of Frances Taylor Born in 1832 in Lincolnshire, Frances Taylor served alongside Florence Nightingale as a nurse in the Crimea. On returning to England in 1855, she quickly won respect for her charitable work with deprived children and adults in London.

In 1869, Frances Taylor founded a Catholic congregation dedicated to fighting injustice, poverty and deprivation. Over the years to her death in 1900, she continued to develop the order of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God and established houses in England, Ireland, Europe, USA, Africa and South America.

The modern Congregation continues to be inspired by her example. The Foundation is committed to high standards of professional care and aims to create services that meet the expectations of users and purchasers alike. This includes working towards a community-based approach, where people can achieve maximum independence, with support tailored to meet individual needs.
