Care and Respect for the Individual

49 Laverstoke Gardens is a residential service for seven Adults with Learning Disabilities. The home is managed by the Frances Taylor Foundation.

Our aim is to provide a warm, friendly supportive home, encouraging and maximising service user’s independence and involvement in every day life choices. We provide support and supervision to enable service users to achieve their own developmental potential.
Service users’ have their own bedroom. All rooms are decorated to a high standard. Service users can add their own personal touch to their room so they have a sense of belonging and their own private space.
The staff team provide support according to the level of each service users needs, as they develop through various aspects of their life i.e.; personal care, emotional needs, daily living skills, finance, social and communication skills.

The level of support needed is documented through individual service users’ assessments and person centred plans. Our commitment is to:

Actively promote each person’s participation in the development of their own personal lifestyle
Work in partnership with families, advocates and care professionals to develop individually tailored care plans
Have positive expectations of each person’s achievement whilst recognising their potential and limitations.
Support people in accessing community facilities; local colleges, library, shops and recreational facilities.
Provide all aspects of care in a non-intrusive and non-discriminatory way.
Ensure that people are respected as individuals with individual needs and personalities
Promote service users’ right to contribute to the services provided for them, using different methods of communication, Makaton, symbols, pictures in activities such as service user meetings, activity plan and menu planning, taking into account likes/dislikes and dietary requirements.
