FTF today
Moving with the times and keeping alive the spirit
In today’s world, change is constant – and inevitable.Purchasers of our services rightly want to know whether the Foundation’s plans for the future are sound, realistic and related to local community care plans. Will we meet the requirements of legislation and be able to compete in a world with limited financial and other resources? Will we have sufficient staff and will they be properly equipped to respond to the responsibilities as well as the rights of service users?
And, with an increasing dependence on lay staff, will we still be able to deliver what is so special about our services?
‘Progress in outward things
– a grand church for instance – would be nothing if we did not advance in the true spirit.’
Mother Magdalen Taylor
Underpinning the work we do today and our plans for the future is a unique set of core values. Based on the work of Frances Taylor, these continue to stand the test of time. They form what we call our ‘Charism’.
Derived from the Greek word charisma meaning ‘free gift’, Charism may be described as:

Our training and development covers much more than NVQ’s, the use of IT and modern clinical practices. Inherent in our communications with staff and their development is ongoing training in the Charism and attitudinal awareness.
This is what helps inspire the action for continuing change - for the better.
We are keen to rise to the many challenges the next decade will bring. Working In partnership with statutory agencies, housing associations, voluntary organisations and our users, we will create services that continue to meet the aspirations of the people we exist to serve.
