Building skills and independence

Paul enjoys being an active part of life at Fernley Resource Centre. Whether welcoming visitors, contributing ideas or taking part in group sessions, he likes being involved and making a positive difference.

Developing new skills has helped Paul grow in confidence and become more independent. From learning how to plan journeys using online maps and train timetables to understanding health and wellbeing, every opportunity helps him prepare for everyday life.

Paul also enjoys attending Speaking Up and People First meetings, where he can share his views and contribute to decisions that matter.

“I like meeting people and working with the staff. It helps my confidence, my social skills and my independence.”

For Paul, being listened to and encouraged to participate has opened up new opportunities to learn, contribute and thrive.
